Prevent Blowing Your Gauges

by John Grady

If you have your AstraDome gauges out, take a minute and add a layer of protection. Thoroughly ground the center metal plate that holds gauges. If you lose that ground integrity, the gauge regulator will not operate -- it puts 12 volts on all of them. This can burn them out or destroy calibration, -- burns up the little heater winding. The factory design depended on sheet metal screws into plastic to hold ground — not a good idea.

Another thing to do -- check the tightness of wiring rivets on gauge. Solder after cleaning will make a good connection.
