John Grady was chasing a problem with the fit of the engine in his D. It had maybe 1/8" clearance between the oil pan and the steering link. It turns out the motor mounts has been installed on the wrong side of the engine block casting ears. This picture shows the proper placement of the motor mount -- the mount bracket fits behind the block ears.

It probably would never occur to you during reassembly that the bracket could be installed in back or in front. Give this a check if you are having clearance issues.
