Crunching the numbers for the G

The earliest ship date we have is August 30, 1960; a red coupe. The last record is for a red coupe shipped August 31st, 1961 although 47 cars have the same 8/31/61 ship date. I took the car with the highest SO number as the last car although any one of those 47 could have been the last out the door. What is striking is that G production lasted 12 months. No other letter car ran this long. Here for a graph of monthly production figures.

There are 1616 records (1280 coupes and 336 convertibles) in this review. Published figures show 1617 (1280 coupes and 337 convertibles). The data is this review was generated by reading each record, typing the information on a spreadsheet and sorting. Although every effort was made to be accurate and the results subjected to checking, it is still possible that data was mis-read or typed incorrectly. The results presented here should be very close if not dead-on but the reader should allow for the possibility of errors.

Similar to the F, two accessory packages were offered.
Accessory Package “A” (301): door edge protectors, vanity mirror, rear license plate frame. 213 cars had this accessory package (163 coupes, 50 convertibles).
Accessory group 306: heater, Golden Touch Tuner radio with rear speaker, rear window defogger, power antenna, and Accessory Package “A”.
121 cars (all coupes) had accessory group 306.

For export cars, Chrysler did not punch the “Export” box on these records but other sources say we sent 26 (15 coupes and 11 convertibles) to Canada and foreign received 25 (14 coupes and 11 convertibles).

Odd balls
There was one car coded for AutoPilot, one car coded for headlight dimmer. There was one car coded with the Flightsweep deck lid.
I don't see how AutoPilot could have been installed with rams. The headlight dimmer wasn't listed as an option in 1961on Chryslers although it was available on Imperials. Dimmer had been an option in 60 so I suppose it could have been done. It would have been easy enough to install a different deck lid as well. We should also consider that these might have been coding errors and they never actually happened.

We estimate that 426 coupes and 124 convertibles survive.
