Nebraska 2024

We always say a prayer before dinner.
My wife's cooking is that bad.
What month of the year has 28 days?
All of them.
Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he will
sit in a boat all day drinking beer.
I wrote a book on reverse psychology.
Please don't buy it.

I rejuvenated the seats and door panels on my L. I found a place in New Jersey that matches interior colors and they mixed up some lacquer paint with flex agent. The paint was not cheap, ($450 for 2 quarts!) but it came out nice. Legendary recommends the place just for this. Kolor Korrect-Your Source For Classic Car Paint .

Chrysler engineering was way ahead of the game except for one thing; they were late to the party when it came to a "Park" position in the transmission. Instead of a Park, we got a wooden chock. It occurred to me that the "chocks on a string" idea could be useful. These are the Jade Wheel Chock from Amazon for about $30/pair. If we are going to chock wheels, this is a lot easier.

If you were to blend tangerine with a touch of white, a touch of violet and a touch of black, what would you get? In the right proportions, you get the 1957 Chrysler Gaugin Red paint.
I came across the paint formulas for the 1957 colors and posted them here. I don't know that this information would be useful today, but I had never seen it before.

Ron Kurtz writes:
Reassembly of E #292 is now underway. All inner surface areas have been painted. The engine and drive train are now in place. Engine break-in (with correct engine oil and ZDDP additive) conducted at 2,000 rpms for 30 minutes, not so much as a sputter (Engine and drive train rebuilt by Don Verity.). We took turns holding the holding the carb linkage. Front end sheet metal now in place. Final paint now scheduled for December. Hope to have it ready for Christmas.

Puzzles
If you like picture puzzles, here are new ones.
Take your pick of "300 Fans", "It is what we do", or "Tough One."

In this edition of the Old & Slow Corner,
Bill Elder casts a wide net on the 300 subject. Here is his story.

Those Were The Days

This picture is from 1981 and shows Rita Conners and her 300E convertible.
Rita was a major in the Air Force and was the original owner of this E.
You can read more about Rita here.

A Christmas Poem

'Twas the day before Christmas, and quiet as could be,
Not a letter car stirring, not even a B.
The cars were all sleeping for their long winter's stay,
The C, and the E, and even the J.
But suddenly awakened from their sleepy bedsteads,
Excitement arose in all the Three Hundreds.
They knew they had heard some hoofs and a bell,
"What can that be?" proclaimed the 300L.
With visions of carpets and other such gifts,
"We could sure use those goodies," said the 300Fs.
As the clamor continued, their horns blew with glee,
"Oh boy, it must be Santa!" squealed the 300G.
New paint, or new tires, or other some such,
Whatever, it would be welcomed by the K and the H.
When they looked out the window they saw a real first,
"Why, look at that," said the D and the Hurst.
With their headlights aglow, they did not see a sled,
This year Santa was driving a C300 painted red.
They heard as the 300 horses drove out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night."
