300K Console Texture

I noticed that not all 300Ks had smooth aluminum on the console.

Of the 25 cars in this survey,
only 5 had the “herringbone” texture.
There does not appear to have any logic to it.
Perhaps if we expanded the idea to include the
1964 300 Sport we might see a pattern.
