1960 Chrysler 300F Console Arm Rest Lid

You can find 300Fs with two different styles of console arm rest lids.
One style has a latch, where the top and bottom pieces have a pin and catch.
The bottom piece looks like this, note the catch on the right end:

The top part has a pin like this:
The bottom piece without the catch looks like this:

We conducted a survey to see if there might be an explanation to the difference in consoles.

We have 9 out of 26 without the latch. There is no pattern as far as build date.
The data may be inaccurate since it is possible that consoles were been changed by previous owners.
Still, it is safe to say that if you have an F, most likely you have the pin latch.

By the way, if you are missing your top cover pin, you may be able to find a replacement. These are commonly called "ball studs" and I think part number P116-625-05-313 at Apex Fasteners could be a good replacement. This ball stud, in the original design, does not lock into the base, but serves more as a guide for the top to meet the bottom.
