A few months ago I was contacted by Leslie Kendall, head curator at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. At that time he advised me they were doing a display for a one year period regarding "Fins". Leslie asked if we would loan our '57 300C coupe and based on my previous experiences with the Petersen we said yes.

Our 300C was picked up on February 21st from our home and transported to the museum where it went directly into the display that opened on February 23rd. On Sunday the 24th Christie, myself and a couple of friends drove our '55 NYer T&C to the Petersen to view this display as well as everything else.

There are fourteen very different examples in the "Fins" display ranging from a 1937 Delage D-8, a '49 Caddy, a couple of custom hot rods, one of two 1962 Chaika's used by Premier Khruschev, the one and only Spohn Palos owned by my friend Wayne Graefen and even a custom boat done in pink with fins and powered by a Kiekhaefer Mercury Outboard.

On many of the displays you can dial 323-209-4149 and then punch in a three digit number with the pound sign and listen to a detailed report on the particular car spoken by the owner, ours is 115#.

Here is the link to the display from the Petersen's web site and I'd recommend anyone who will be in the Los Angeles area in the next year to stop by as I think you will find not only this display but the entire museum very worthwhile.
